Supersize earrings continue to dominate the runways, lavishly assertive and blazing with confidence. Sculptural, art school earrings like those we spotted at Alexander Calder are back for round two, but we also lusted after the glitzy shiny chandeliers at Burberry and Saint Laurent, the extra-large hoops at Fenty x Puma, Christopher Kane and Halpern, while the overwhelmingly pretty water droplet earrings at Chanel and pearls at Simone Rocha were impossible to resist.
Cuffs n’ stuff
Ear cuffs and climbers were everywhere the fashion spotlight shone too, sneaking up the helixes of models, the front row, and bloggers. They’re creeping into the mainstream, but we still adore their edge and the way they give us yet another way with ear jewellery. We’re lobing it!
So many bracelets this season. We saw chunky, colourful perspex bangles at Philip Lim, bold and structural pieces at Oscar De La Renta; multiple layers at Dior; and dramatic metal cuffs at Miu Miu and Alexander McQueen. Barely an arm went unadorned. Slip some on.
Add warmth and interest to winter knits with gold, silver and brass pieces. “The allure of gold is as old as civilization itself. But what’s the modern approach? Load up on bold oversized pieces and flaunt them all at once” says Vogue jewellery editor Carol Woolton. Think chunky rings at Chloe and Diane von Furstenberg’s charm bracelets. Go metal with us.
