Translating AW17 trends into jewellery

Ready to translate this season’s trends into jewellery? Let us help you out.

Power Dressing
A wave of feminism hit the AW17 catwalk. Celine, Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham, Chloe and Isabel Marant all showcased high powered, considered looks; super suits worn as a suit of armour to protect from tough political times. There is no strict 9-to-5 dress code; this is a new kind of power dressing – stylish, wide-ranging and refreshingly individualistic.

Space Age
High shine was all over the catwalks. Glittery boots; metallic jackets; slinky chain mail dresses in silver and gold; oversized silver bags; shiny quilted shawls and blankets over tweed suits; metallic details and futuristic fastenings; and planet inspired accessories. Check out the show-stopping Chanel Rocket, complete with actual lift off!

Colour shock
Any colour goes this season, the more intense the better. Embrace bright red (as did Comme Des Garcons and Victoria Beckham) with a pair of flaming red boots; and take your pick out of a number of shades of blue (which apparently matches all skin tones), from cobalt to dusky, as seen at Celine and Bottega Veneta.

Park the “no make-up make-up” – beauty is bright and punchy. A flash of coloured mascara (I have been patiently waiting its re-emergence!); cobalt blue, orange and fuschia eyeliner or shadow; and tangerine lips. No wallflowers here.

Denim
They can prise that indigo cotton from our cold dead hands! This season wear the blue material for any and every, occasion. Button-through skirts, oversized jackets, embroidered shirts, high waist jeans, dresses, boilersuits, even trench coats. Stella McCartney and Dior offered a top-to-toe, tongue-in-cheek double-denim look.
