Wolf and Moon
Hannah Davis is the talented designer behind Wolf and Moon. Her jewellery is crafted using a combination of laser-cut materials - wood, perspex and metal – which are cleverly pieced together to create her trademark geometric and colourful earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets.
Hannah began making jewellery at 16, selling her pieces to friends and through MySpace. She recalls her discovery of the laser cutting process as a turning point as “the possibilities seemed endless”.
The name Wolf & Moon originated from one of the first pieces Hannah made, a wolf howling at the moon, and she began selling under this name on a Brick Lane stall while at Goldsmiths University studying for a BA in Fine Art. After she graduated in 2012 she grew her brand, launching an online shop and employing the help of a small team. That team now work together in their Hackney studio to the soundtrack of a Spotify playlist or BBC Radio 6.
Inspiration comes from a variety of places. “I have a big sketchbook full of ideas!” she says, “Although I do need a quiet space to draw”.
An art deco influence is evident across Wolf and Moon’s collections: in the geometric designs, the subdued colour palette combined with white, black, gold, mirrored and metallic surfaces; the medley of materials and the mix of natural wood with man-made acrylic.
Hannah enjoys travel and makes “fleeting attempts to escape the city for an adventure into the wilderness”. She’s been inspired by both the magnificent fjords and mountains on a road trip through Norway and the architecture and Mediterranean colours she saw on a city break to Barcelona. Her interest in interior and furniture design sparked some heavily engraved and painted wooden pieces. Hannah and her team are all nature lovers and enjoy a feature wall filled with plants in their studio.
Wolf and Moon’s jewellery is original. Soft natural browns and greys not often seen in statement pieces are injected with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood to make modern jewellery for the curious and independent.
